Whitten’s has been in business in Albertville since 1948. Thomas Whitten, owner of Whitten’s, is a third generation owner. Originally opened by L.M. and Inez Whitten, the store was located on Main Street before moving to its current location on Sand Mountain Drive in 1968. After moving to Sand Mountain Drive, Trent Whitten son of L.M. Whitten, took over the business. Today Thomas Whitten, son of Trent Whitten, runs the store with four employees and help from his father, who lives in New York.
Whitten’s emphasizes service and quality for their customers. They buy mostly New York lines. They carry fabulous designer fashions and bring them back to Albertville. You will not find their clothes next door. Thomas Whitten travels to New York four to five times per year to check out the latest fashions.

- Pendleton - Strong ladies sportswear line for the all-American woman.
- Joseph Ribkoff - For more special social occasions.
- Michael Kors - Another good ladies sportswear line.
- Polo Ralph Lauren - Probably the most popular.
- Bills Khakis - The greatest khaki pant. It has three selling points: no logos, deep pockets and it’s fully alterable. It’s made like a suit pant.
One of the biggest complaints I get is a customer telling me, ‘I would buy another jacket, but the one I bought 10 years ago still looks brand new.’
